Capturing Emotions Through Portrait Mastery

Hear from past portrait commissioned clients who cherish their personalised portraits and the artistic journey with Beka Smith.

Beka painted my portrait for the occasion of my retirement in August 2016. I found the whole experience extremely enjoyable. Beka began by putting me completely at my ease, taking numerous photographs while we chatted and got to know one another. She placed great emphasis on understanding me and on what I was looking for in a portrait.  As she worked on the painting, she kept me involved which was very reassuring and she offered very good advice at every stage.

I am absolutely thrilled with the portrait. It combines the relaxed, friendly style I wanted with just enough gravitas. Most importantly, it is actually me! From the Governors, who commissioned it, to the girls at the school, the portrait has been greatly admired by everyone.

I recommend Beka most highly for her warm and generous personality, her professionalism and care, and her extraordinary skills as an artist.

Former Head Mistress

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the way you approached the task. You were so economical with my time, and worked really quickly, while still managing to get to know me and put me at my ease. You were so wise in selecting the approach and the setting for the picture, and I also really appreciated the way you kept me updated and gave me the chance to comment. Above all it was lovely to get to know you and see how a portrait artist thinks and works: you made the whole experience great fun, and I am delighted with the final product.

Thank you for painting such a marvellous portrait of me. A number of people have commented about how detailed and true to life it is. I am delighted with it. It has been a real pleasure meeting you and I wish you continued success in your work. I am quite sure there will be many more Cambridge commissions following on from the excellent work that you have done for a number of us within Cambridge University.

Many thanks.
